Golf and Fitness Fun

Golf and fitness go together at any age - even if fitness videos are more your style. And so do exercise music, fun in the sun and even shopping! What happened to the 'no pain, no gain' mantra? Nothing! It's just that it suits some folks and does not suit others - no matter how important a part health and fitness play in their lives. The bottom line is that getting and staying in shape doesn't have to be dull and boring! Try some of these fun fitness activities to make your exercise time more enjoyable.

Golf and Fitness - Golf fitness is ideal for lifetime personal fitness. It's one of the most social personal fitness regimes going, it takes you out into pleasant and uplifting surroundings, and is reasonably gentle on your body. In fact, golf and fitness are an ideal combination whether you're super fit - its relaxation benefits for high-intensity athletes are enormous - or whether you're carrying an injury or simply 'too old' for more strenuous physical exercise. In fact, golf fitness can mean tuning your body to improve your golf score, and also apply more generally to golf and fitness - making your body as limber as a rubber band or your balance rock-solid. Now you may be starting to realize the huge contributions golf and fitness can make to your fitness for life ambitions.

Fun in the Sun – Walk to the nearest shopping center and check out the latest tanning solutions - try fun, scented versions with funky, multi-colored sunglasses. Grab your iPod or MP3 player and favorite tunes. And pack some flavored water, that flavored health bar you’ve been dying to try, and some frozen berries in your carryall - and have a “sense”-ational time.

Exercise Music – Put on your favorite music and do some yoga! No need for slow, elevator music. Move to your favorite beat. Or pop on the headphones or earphones and grab your MP3 or iPod or handheld PC and cycle to a nearby park. Too wet or cold? Then head to a mall where you can go shopping - window-shopping, that is. Have you ever noticed how weary your legs are aftr such a workout? Yes - shopping and walking can also be great for personal fitness. Just one caution though: make sure you stay alert to what's going on around you while listening to music with headphones or earphones - particularly near traffic.

VCR / DVD – Head to the library or local rental store and grab one or two of the fun fitness videos or DVDs that are readily available. Crank up the sound when your favorite tunes come on and join the taped workout participants in the privacy of your own home. Doesn't matter how silly you think you look - no-one will see. Unless you decide to invite some friends and have an exercise party!

Gym / Fitness Center – Dig out the coupons you’ve been saving from envelope mailers and money saving coupon magazines. Again, no need to commit long-term. Just use the free or low-cost trial period and enjoy the change of environment and exercises!

Journaling – Spice up your logging routine with a cheap new journal. Create snazzy charts with colored markers or stickers for each workout. Paste or tape pictures of your goals all over and throughout the jouirnal. For example, paste pictures of that vacation spot you want to travel to with your new, healthy YOU wearing a new fancy swimsuit.

Fitness Classes – Try out a new exercise class for fun. Grab some colorful water gear and swim to the beat, or enjoy a full water aerobics workout with less stress on your joints. Or try a dance or Jazzercise routine. No need to commit to a long-term contract - just pop in for a 'casual' class or two to check it out and enjoy. Meet new friends and get fit all at once.

So add some fun to your fitness activities. Wake up your senses with new taste, smells, sights, touches and sounds. Forget that “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” stuff. Take the idea of golf and fitness and expand it to activities you enjoy or would like to try.
